Interview: Fan Site Owner Jean at GoJoeyLogano.com

As I bounce around the web meeting NASCA Fans I pop into Fan Sites all the time. But what makes them tick? Why go to all the trouble when there is no way to make a profit? Love of the Sport and Drivers is the answer.

Below I asked my new friend Jean at www.GoJoeyLogano.com a few questions.

1. Why did you decide to be a Joey Logano Fan?

Well, ever since I was a little boy I've been a racing enthusiast. I first began watching Formula 1 though, but later started watching NASCAR as well. I guess what drew me to Joey Logano, was that he was someone young, and to me he seems like somebody who is very down to earth, and someone I think I would have a good time hanging out with.

2. What is your reason for running a Joey Logano Fan site?

In the beginning, when I searched the internet, there really wasn't much of an option for Joey Logano Fans as far as websites out there. And even the official website wasn't what it is today. So during the Dover Race, where Joey Logano debuted in the nationwide series, I decided it was time to start a Logano Fan website, and while I was watching the Dover race, I went ahead and bought the domain name, and started to work on the website, and I haven't stopped since.

3. How does the site get paid for?

I think you are referring to hosting? And how the website stays up? If so, I pay for it out of my own pocket, I was looking around for different options, and one them that crossed my mind was GoDaddy, but in the end, my friend advised me on a hosting company called ThePlanet. I pay for a dedicated server there, which runs me $147 every month, the cost may be high, but in the end I think its all worth it, especially when it means that the website will be loaded to the members without a problem.

4. How much time a week do you spend on the site?

Too many hours I think. It depends on the week though, I would say though that I spend at least 20 hours per week on the website. You can usually find me logging into the forum like every 10 minutes, lol.

5. Is the site Membership growing?

Yeah the members in the forum are growing, we've had quite a few members that are now consistent members, which makes me happy to see.

6. Any Interesting Members? What makes them interesting?

There are a few members that stand out for sure, I think what makes them interesting is that you see people from all walks of life being Logano fans, and each of them have their own separate ways of showing how big of NASCAR and Joey Logano fans they really are.

7. What is the hardest part of running the site?

I think by now, I've got the way I do the results, and blog postings down pretty good, and I am getting more efficient at doing them. So I would not say thats the hardest part. I would say the hardest part is trying to evolve the site, and trying to get it to be better. As a webmaster, and as a Logano fan, I always feel like the website can do so much better. So I would say the hardest part is trying to make the website better.

8. What is the best part of running the site?

The best part, I would say is when a new user registers to the forum, and is excited to be a part of the community. I love to see the members coming in and making their own posts, and interacting with the community, thats one of the things that keeps me going, and gives me the strength to continue. Seeing the members come in and be excited for the website.

9. How do you think your Driver Joey Logano will do this year and beyond?

Speaking of this year...I think there will be some tracks that Joey will take some time to adjust to, but at the same time, i think there will be some tracks where Joey will really excel at. I think though as the season progresses Joey is going to get better and better, it wouldn't surprise me if Joey gets at least a top 5 finish this year. And for the future years, I do think Joey Logano is here to stay, and will be driving the number 20 car for many years to come.

Thanks Jean and Good luck to Joey "Sliced Bread" Logano!
