Tough Times Take Toll on Local Fan Shops

 I drove across town the other day to visit my local TrakSide NASCAR Fan Shop to say hi and buy my wife something but they were closed. Do what? In the middle of the week your closed? But as I got up to the door it was clear to see that were no longer in business.



The store is owned by a Father and Son Team who love NASCAR and it's Fans as well as selling great products folks loved to wear and enjoy. They had told me last week when I went in to get me a NASCAR Sprint Cup hat that they were running out of time and may have to close. They said when the economy got tough and folks lost some jobs and needed to cut back stores like his were the worst hit. That's a shame.

Good news is they had told me they would not give up and look around for a smaller and more affordable location where they can get back to serving the local NASCAR Fans. I'll be staying in touch with the guys to find out where they go to support them as best I can. If I can "Stimulate the Economy" I think I want to start there.

What can we do as Race Fans? I don't have the perfect answer but maybe if we all went down to our local Fan Shop and bought a Hat or a T-Shirt it might help. Besides you need to get your Driver's 2009 Pit Hat anyway.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
